Solar Initiatives

We have partnered with installers in 48 of the 50 states to help clean affordable power become available to more homes across the country. The list below simply consists of our main, most popular markets currently.

Washington, DC

DC is currently leading the nation when it comes to solar incentives and funding for renewable energy programs. They have one of the most aggressive RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standard) in the nation which has caused a massive injection of funding and incentives for clean energy production. For most property owners, Incentives are currently so high in DC that you can get a free solar system and pay $0 for the electricity. This program is allowing homeowners to virtually eliminate or atleast significantly reduce one of their largest monthly expenses.

If you opt to buy a system yourself, you can actually make money racking up Solar Renewable Energy Certificates, otherwise known as SRECs. If you own property in DC, click here to gain greater insight into what’s driving the solar initiatives going on in the Nation’s Capital.

Maryland

Similar to DC, Maryland has a fairly aggressive RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standard) as well. And with PEPCO, SMECO, and BGE all warning of imminent rate increases, many homeowners are looking to insulate themselves against rate hikes while enjoying the incentives involved in doing so. Although most parts of Maryland aren’t subsidizing solar by 100% like DC, the final cost of solar is still so low that qualified homes are seeing savings from day one and then watching their margins increase as the cost of traditional electricity rises. The Buy Solar Initiative, on the other hand, is for homeowners who want to own their solar system and take advantage of the incentives available. By purchasing a solar system, you can earn SREC certificates, benefit from net metering, and enjoy tax incentives. This is a great option for homeowners who have the financial resources and want to maximize their savings in the long run.

At Maxpaq, we believe that going solar should be accessible to everyone. That’s why we help homeowners in our community leverage local initiatives and figure out which program serves them best.
